Device Identification
Identifying your device provides information about its model, serial number, and firmware version, which is helpful for troubleshooting and support.
Identifying the Device
To identify your miniSMU MS01, use the *IDN? command. While this command is executed automatically by the software when connecting, you can also issue it manually to confirm proper communication.
Using the Software Interface:
- Connect to your miniSMU MS01 through the software
- Navigate to the "Device Information" or "About Device" section
- The software will display:
- Device model: "miniSMU MS01"
- Serial number: Unique identifier for your device
- Firmware version: Current software installed on the device
- Hardware revision: Manufacturing version information
Using the Command Interface:
If your software allows direct command entry, send:
*IDN?
The device will respond with a string similar to:

This response contains:

Device Reboot
Rebooting your miniSMU MS01 can be helpful when:

Factory Reset
A factory reset returns the device to its original state as shipped:
- Via hardware method (for recovery):
- Power off the device
- Press and hold the user button on the rear panel

- Continue holding for 10 seconds until you see a specific LED pattern
- Release the button
- The device will reboot with factory settings
A factory reset will restore the miniSMU's firmware version to the one shipped from the factory. Calibration values will remain unchanged
Note: Factory reset should only be used when necessary.
